Origin of the Name “Architecture Design Studio Morizo-”
Morizo- was named to signify “creating from the forest (Mori) through creation (Souzō).” As someone who loves wood and natural materials, I frequently visited forests and drew a lot of inspiration from them. I wanted to focus on architecture that carefully utilizes the blessings of nature, which is why I renamed the studio to Architecture Design Studio Morizo- in 2006.
Our lives and activities are constantly supported by the gifts of nature. Moving forward, I hope to continue working in a way that shows gratitude for nature and contributes to the craft of design.
Profile
Rieko Uchida / Architect
- Certified First-Class Architect in Japan
( 一級建築士 )
I have been involved in architectural design for many years, and my interest in this field continues to grow. I have a particular fascination with craftsmanship and natural materials, finding great appeal in handmade work and items with a long history of use.
Since spending two years in Berlin starting in 2018, my opportunities for design and projects in Germany have increased. Each time I travel between Japan and Germany, I am inspired and stimulated by the differences between the two cultures, which continually expands my network and ideas.
